Youth Fest '10

I've been postponing this post for way too long now. Anyway, from 28th to 30th last month, there was a youth festival at PWTC, KL and with TAJMA having a booth there, Yen Pin and I were sent there on duty. Having to be an exhibitioner for the first time, I really didn't know what to expect except the crowd and high levels of noises and I was spot on with those two. Lol.

Anyway, throughout those three days, Yen Pin and I were pretty much bored at most times. When we were at the booth and we just sat there, assisting visitors. We had about over 300 visitors over the weekend. But personally, I've learnt to deal better with people. Keeping one particular father patient was not an easy feat. He was so determined to have all 3 of his kids taking TAJMA profiles but he wasn't so happy with the queue during which talking to him about why it is better to take it at the fest was better (it cost RM38 to take it actually but at the fest, it was FOC) and so on helped.

We did however enjoyed walking around, visiting other booths. There were so many actually. Canon, Wigley's, Ciba Vision, Fly FM, NST, YouthSays, Firefly, Celcom, Rakan Muda and so many more. There was also a Battle of the Bands at a stage outside. Didn't bother listening though. When it comes to Malaysian bands, they can play instruments but not sing. Something they overlook, I suppose. Ask Ma Lee and she would tell you the same. Lol. No offense alright? =) Oh yeah. At NST's booth, they were looking for Mobile Journalist and I signed up for it. I've posted 2 articles so far. Under E4U (that's Entertainment for You) and Sports. I don't know if they are up already or not but do check them out at U-Phoria. I know my byline is. It's under We are MoJos. Read them and comment them or something ok? Best articles of each topic gets RM50 reward each month. So show some love and support! Lol. And at the Firefly's booth, we signed up for a trip to Pangkor Island. But something came up now and I am unable to attend it. =(

Next there was also this whole other hall which was dedicated to sports, dancing and shopping. For sports, there was futsal of course. We saw a few matches. Some were good and some were just ok. There was also basketball, 3 on 3 but I am not a fan. Going back to futsal, there is something interesting. There was this tournament which only needed two players going against each other in a cage. Yen Pin said it reminded her of cockerels fighting. Lol!

Lastly, another section had conferences and concert by Red FM, Hot FM and Fly FM.

Over the three days, UTM fixed us up at Rumah Tamu UTM by the way. It was apartment style and being just the two of us, it gets creepy at night. For me at least. Lol. It had three rooms but we decided to stay together. I don't know if Yen Pin was really scared or she just wanted to calm my fears though. Lol. Everybody knows I am the bigger chicken anyway. =(

Oh yeah! Also at the fest, they had this whole alley with graffiti. It was so cool. They even had someone from Singapore and Australia drawing them.

We also did some adventure of our own during our free time in KL. On our first night there, we managed to walk all the way to KLCC. It took us about 20 minutes. How did we do it? JUST WALK TOWARDS THE BUILDING. Lol. It really worked. The part where we have to cross roads is scary though. People in KL drive so fast!!! I had to always hold Yen Pin's hand too. And she calls me mummy. Hmph! The next night, we ended at KLCC again. This time, we met 3 dinosaurs! Foon Yee, Soo Chen (who is getting thinner that she looks sick!) and May Peng. They actually went to PWTC but we had already left by then. So we decided to meet up at KLCC. We had fun. I've missed them so much since we started our internships. It was just so good to see them. Miss them already! Lol

Well, that's my report for not (I know I still owe one post about my internship! Lol). Anyway, I'll leave you with photos from my trip to KL. Photos are credited to Yen Pin (she is my personal photographer, really). =)

What I Think The Dinosaurs Are Up To Usually During The Holidays

The title pretty much tells you what this whole post is about. So there is absolutely no point of me repeating the same here unless you are one of those silly fellas who do not read the title of an article before you proceed to the content (I know a few people who are like that). Anyway, lets for a second think you have brains in that skull of yours. =p

So first and foremost, Little Foot (me that is). Little Foot spends more her time, sleeping. She is really like a pig on school breaks. I must say that school breaks are like hibernation time for Little Foot. And there is online too. So I think it is pretty much sleep and online. More of the first. Lol. Right! She also watches illegally downloaded series on her laptop.

Hmm.. Little Foot sounds really boring. Get a life already, Little Foot! Lol.

Next is Ducky. Ducky visited Little Foot yesterday (it wasn't visiting per se but hack. Saves my time in telling a long story). Both and Ducky's family went to the new Jusco shopping mall in town. They had fun. =) Anyway, Ducky's holiday is probably spent doing pretty much nothing as well. She would love worrying and being overly kepoh though perhaps. Lol. Just kidding. I guess online is the thing she does most.

Yet another boring dinosaur.

Third is Cera. Hmm.. Like Little Foot, Cera is also a 'pirate'. She downloads illegally and watches the shows. She also probably spends her time helping her mother and brother here and there with his arts stuffs. She doesn't hibernates but she spends a lot of her time online for sure. Her only way of communicating to GDW (besides using the underfed and under-cared-for owls). What else eh? Busy manja-ing. Busy being manja-ed. Lol. And she 'bangs' keyboard (that tells you how well she "plays" right? Lol! Just kidding. She plays ok. She just likes saying she 'bangs' instead of 'plays' the keyboard which makes it sounds all wrong). Oh yeah! Texting Little Foot. Lol. So that is another thing Little Foot does too. Lol. And I guess that is it for Cera. Wait! Wait! Cera maids at home also. Lol!

Moving on is Chomper. This dinosaur gets really busy when she returns home to her 'jungle' in Sibu. It is a jungle there because there is absolutely no internet connection there. And DiGi pretty much hates that place too. The 'yellow man' probably doesn't visit there very much. Anyway, Chomper gets really busy during school breaks. She hangs out in her 'princess's' sundry shop a lot (getting free Coca-Cola there probably) and she goes on countless of dates. With her high school friends. And she gets pampered by her mother's cooking also. No vegetables. Nothing spicy. Just CHICKEN and CHICKEN EGGS. Lol. Oh yeah. She probably spends time helping her father with the ferry business. Hmm.. How about Tong Moo Lu eh? Haha. That's just a joke (which not many would get but lets just leave it that way).

Hmm.. For a change, this dinosaur seemed to have more fun.

Next is Spike. Hmm.. This one probably spends a lot of her time helping out her family at their sundry shop. Selling and eating anchovies. Lol. Yup! The dinosaur eats raw anchovies. She probably spend a little time playing her piano as well. She doesn't gets online at all though. Like Chomper. She probably visits her grandmother also. And I don't know what else Spike does. Eat leaves perhaps. Lol.

Lastly, Petrie. This one is the easiest. Petrie spends her whole holiday glued to the television set. You don't see her online and it is almost impossible to reach her on her cell phone. Because she eats and sleeps TV. One TV program after another. And surprise, surprise, she DOES NOT have Astro (thank God). So I really have no idea what Petrie watches. Yet, she is one hack of a TV slave. She even eats in front of the TV perhaps. So that is Petrie. 24/7 with her TV shows.

And that is perhaps how I think the dinosaurs kill their time when they are all back home. All in all, Little Foot is perhaps the laziest of them all and Spike and Cera are the most helpful ones. Ducky, Idk what to say. Chomper's terribly busy and Petrie's just another TV addict.

Hmm.. Little Foot's done with this now. Perhaps she should sleep again soon. Lol!

In Loving Memory of a Dear Friend

She said she first noticed me in Form 1. She said she first waved and said hi to me when I sat by the door in Form 3. But I still cannot remember if she did.

To me, I first knew bubbly Sandra in Form 4. And boy, was she a hell lot of fun. She could fill a room with laughter. She was definitely a bundle of joy. I must say I have never really enjoy high school days before I dropped class. Lol. Well, being in the top class sucked as all the people in there only know one thing and that is study. Gosh. Not a way to live. Imagine having to see people study grammar! Lol. So when I dropped to the second class and met this wonderful person, things changed. I was also reunited with Sara and things got so much better. We would spend thing during relieve classes crapping, joking and I remember scaring Sandra with spooky stories once. Lol. I can still recall her face when I scared her. Lol! Among other fun things done with her was going on the Langkawi trip with her and she stupidly brought her tiny Panasonic phone with her into the water. Lol. Never forgetting also her antics in class! Pulling the head scarf of our Moral teacher (LOL!), sleeping in class (she would drool too), eating endlessly in class (Apollo and fish crackers were her favourite), burping after she eats (lol) and all her never ending nonsense blabbering! Form 5 was the same and after SPM, we thought, that was it for the two of us. We would go our own separate ways.

But, that was not the end as we met in Form 6. She was early on the first day of school. She was sitting in the canteen bench listening to the teacher when I came (late, as usual) and she saw me and I remember how her dull face shone. And she then said to me, "OMG! I am so happy to see you here. You have no idea how happy I am to see you!!!! You are like the shining star you see in movies when something good appears. I could really see the bright light and all." It made me stare at her but I was glad I had her there too. Perhaps the funniest thing about Lower 6 that year is the fact that we both transferred to IJC (it is a convent school in Melaka) for a day! Lol. We hated that school. We spent our first and only day there writing notes actually. We were both taken aback by some girls remarks by the way. They would ask us why we were there and why we did not opt to High School instead because THERE WERE GUYS THERE! Lol. I still remember the look Sandra gave them at that remark and how we would laughed at them for being such 'jakuns' with guys. Lol. Once back home, I told her I was gonna transfer back to SMKBB and she did not decide on that. So we thought, ok. This is it. We are finally gonna go different ways.

But surprise, surprise! Her aunt in Singapore tells her she doesn't need Maths (the main reason we moved to IJC was because they offered Maths) after all and she moved back! So it is yet again, Sandra and Natalia up against the world. Ok ok. It was not that big of a deal. Lol. Anyway, Lower 6 came and gone in a blink and then it was Upper 6 and this is where that one big thing took place, the one thing I cannot seem to forgive myself for. Bloody Christina Aguilera and her stupid concert. We did not talk for the rest of the year because of this. Looking back, I think I hate myself that we fought. Anyway, long story short, I hope somewhere along the road, she forgave me for whatever that took place although I will never be able to apologise for my part of the deal. -Sigh-

Oh yeah! About Form 6, I drove to school and she would take a ride from me at times, most of the times to tuition and she yells in the car so much whenever I was speeding! Lol. I find it annoying then but now I am missing it. My dinosaurs here are too used to my speed that they never seem to yell. Lol. Also, she like to disturb the Malay girls in out class with their 'eh...', never ending powder puffs and calling them 'nenepot'. LOL!! And she called me little human and I had to call her princess for a whole year! Lol!

That was that basically. Since then, we managed to patch things up, I think. We hung out a few times and she came for my little birthday celebration and gave me those killer hugs! Lol. Boy I am gonna miss them.

So to Sandra, although you are no longer on earth, I know you are in a better place now. I may never tell you how sorry I am but please know that I am. I was suppose to have some time to do this in person but you left way before your time. It feels like I have known you for a very long time but it will never be long enough. So until we meet again, I will be remembering you. I will be remembering your bubbly, fun and happy nature. I will never forget your nonsense blabbering and I feel that there is just so much about you that I will miss.

You have left for almost 2 weeks now, but it all still seems so unreal to me. I really miss you and until we meet again, I truly pray that you are in a better place now. You are deeply missed, my friend.

My Awesome Trip To Kuching!!!

So I think it is about time that I blog again. Since it has been ages since I last do so. Anyway, you may find another post of this trip at http://iammiko.blogspot.com/. It is a good one. Anyhow, my side of the story now. Lol

We left shortly after our finals (will blog about results soon enough). On the 11th of November to be exact and stayed for a whole 2 weeks! At first I did think it would be too long but now that I look back, it was a good length of time. I just hope I did not trouble Yen Pin's mother too much. Lol.

So on the 11th of November was the first time I flew and it was awesome. Ok. I don't wanna sound like a ignorant person here but it was really nice. I love the taking off and landing especially. Everything in between except turning is boring. The taking off of an airplane needs a lot of speed as one would know and the g-force of the airplane hitting that speed is just amazing. You feel your body launching back and then your stomach feels a little weird when it lifts into the air. And the landing..err..it is nothing much but like a bump. Haha.

So when we were there, I kinda hit it off with Yen Pin's mum almost immediately. Spoke to her right away when she picked us up. May Peng must be counting her stars that night that I managed to take Yen Pin's mum (I shall refer her as Auntie from now on) off her. Lol. So Yen Pin's house was a lot smaller than I had imagined too. I always thought she lived in a huge house for some reason. Haha. But it is really comfortable and nice. And the service there is awesome. Hehe. Oh yeah. Her brother, Derek, is nice too. If only I knew how to talk to him better though. -Sigh- And her dad..scary?? Lol. But still a nice man, I guess. Well, I don't know enough to judge. He was hardly at home anyway.

Ok. Enough on her family and home.

So the first thing I did there was 'technical stuffs'. Really. I was the Art Technician. Specialised in cutting and preparing double-sided tapes. Lol. My boss? Miss Siu Yen Pin. Lol. She was helping her brother in his assignment and knowing there was so much to do, I 'kepo-kepo' helped her and came to know as the technical person. Lol. Oh yeah. Did I mention that her brother is this super awesome artist? Her family must be the most artistic family I've come to know. Lol. But really, they are. Her brother drew this 'Sarawak rainforest' thingy and it was so beautiful. I have a picture of it but I don't suppose I should put it on here in case some other artist might come on here and then mimic his artwork! Lol. So the first day of our trip was that.

Then soon enough, we went to Jong’s Crocodile park. And I must say that Auntie’s timing is always good. Because she always manages to bring us to places at the right time. We went there right when they were having feeding time and so we managed to see the crocs in action. There was also a mini zoo there (like Yen Pin said) and we saw deers, goat (I ‘talked’ to it???), wild boars, monkeys, otters and other animals. Oh yeah. the otters were having their before mating ritual, I think (again, Auntie’s good timing). Lol

Awesome huh? We also went to a pitcher plant farm after that and I should say there was nothing there. –Sigh- Then, we visited some museums and again, awesome timing. Just before it close. Ok. Don’t get me wrong here. What I meant is that Auntie manages to bring us there despite having to do it all by 4.30p.m. (closing time).

The next day (15th November), we went to Friendship Park (it is a park to commemorate the relationship between Malaysia and China). There was nothing much there but we somehow managed a contest called ‘Mimic the Horny Cats Statue’ and I think it is clear that Yen Pin and I won that. Anyway, due to some technical difficulties (also like Yen Pin said), I should mention no more about it (but for pictures..really funny ones on this contest, do go to my Facebook. Lol). And at night (I think it was this night), Uncle (Yen Pin’s dad) treated us to a meal at a seafood restaurant and the food was yummy! Thanks, Uncle (although I highly doubt Yen Pin would show this to him).

Alright then. 16th November. We ‘bungkus’ a huge area on this day. Mainly, Main Bazaar and I can’t remember what else (full details at the earlier address I mentioned). So we did some souvenir buying on here and A LOT of walking. Lol. But it was a good day overall. Fun too. Oh yeah. We ‘bungkus’ the temple too. Tua Pek Kong, I think.

Tua Pek Kong.

The most colourful shopping centre I have ever seen.

Then Foon Yee left (and there were 3 visitors left). Anyway, on the 17th, we went to Sarawak Cultural Village. It was a pretty long drive up there but once there, we got to see Sarawak natives’ stuffs. Their dancing, ritual and houses. And then we also went to Damai Beach which was nothing actually. What a waste.

Now I can’t remember what we did on the 18th, so I shall skip to 19th. We went to another temple. 2 temples actually. The first was a little one with beautiful carvings. Taught the dinosaurs about turtle/terrapin/tortoise there. Lol. Then to a temple featuring a huge (not that huge though) Goddess of Mercy. There, I made friend with the ‘Chi Ling’. Hehe. And I think that is it for this day.

The first temple.

Turtle/terrapin/tortoise lesson.

Goddess of Mercy.

Meet my friend, Chi Ling!! Mimicing him here.

Don't I like my friend? Lol.

Again, I don’t recall what was done on the 20th and so I am skipping to 21st November (Happy Birthday, Sandra!!!). We visited 3 places on that day. The first is Wind Cave. VERY CREEPY. Because it is so dark and there were no guides but we five girls toughen ourselves anyway and explore the cave. Hehe. Next was Fairy Cave, the nicer one between the two. And less creepy. Lol. Then Semantan beach. This one is so far away that I had to do the driving. An hour’s drive in fact but the beach was nice and May Peng (again, like Yen Pin said) was so happy to collect seashells and almost drown (and Soo Chen watched and not help till May Peng was so close to drowning). Lol.

Entrance to Wind Cave.

Entrance to Fairy Cave. 120 steps up.

Us at Fairy Cave. -Sigh- Missing Chomper. -Sigh-

Now the remaining days were subtle and we did nothing much but it was still interesting days. Soo Chen then left us on the 24th and it was down to 2 visitors. May Peng and I eventually left on the 27th.

Anyway, while I was there, I managed to show off my cooking skill 3 times. Lol. One of them is a failure though. I cooked spaghetti twice and lasagna once. The failure was the lasagna, mainly because there was no oven. But overall, I think Auntie and Derek liked them. I sure hope they did! Lol. I also managed to try many local stuffs. Sarawak ‘laksa’, ‘kueh chap’ and finally tried and like ‘rui cha’ (please forgive my spellings if there is any errors). Also tried the infamous drink, ‘teh ci peng special’. And I LOVE it. And I would drink it almost everyday and get hyper. Hehe. There, I also visited and watched movie 3 times at MBO Cinemas (2012, A Christmas Carol and New Moon). In addition, I also learnt to make grasshoppers from darling out of coconut leaves and also bought and ate my favourite 'bi pang' (Dear darling Yen Pin and Siew Fen, I have finished my 'bi pang' and if you guys would be so kind as to buy me some more, I would be so happy! Do let me know before you buy though. Hehe.)

And with that, I think I have come to the end of my post. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this and I certainly hope my ability to amuse readers who bump into this blog is still there with this post. Have a nice day!! And remember, for more pictures, go over to my Facebook. =)

P.S: Thank you so very much to Uncle, Auntie, Derek and darling Yen Pin for making this trip possible. Without the provided accommodation, I would not have make it there yet. Thank you also for all the meals provided and the warm hospitality. In addition, thank you for being wonderful tour guides (Auntie, darling and Siew Fen). In brief, thank you for everything and if I was of any nuisance (with my silly OCDness, sinus, etc) while I was there, I am so sorry and I am so grateful for everything. =)

21st Birthday!

Finally, I am 21. I am old. Neh. Still feel the same actually. Only richer. Haha. Anwyay, I celebrated my birthday in Melaka and yes, my dinosaurs tagged along! Man, I love them so much. Overall, it was a small party that saw Sandra and Sara coming and my relatives too but it was still a great one. And I would like to thank everyone who came and especially my family for holding the party for me. Love you guys!!!
