The Reason Why Soccer Is So Interesting

Til the 88th minute, Arsenal was controlling the match and have a 2 goal cushion. They were playing their fancy football til..

Clichy hesitated to pass the ball to the many options available. He slipped and gave the possession away. That made way for Jermaine Jenas to make it 4-3. The outcome of the match? Lets rewind a little first. Lol

Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur
North London Derby

It was definately gonna be a good game. Derbies are always good to watch. And a North London derby is always full of drama. Who can forget Jermaine Jenas equalising with the last kick of the match 2 seasons ago? And which Tottenham fan wouldn't remember the sweet memory of them defeating Arsenal 5-2 on aggregate in last season's Carling Cup? Anyway, yesterday's match had the equal amount of drama. Total goals in this match was 8 goals.

It started off with a superd 40 feet volley goal from ex-Gunner, David Bentley on the 12th minute. His volley caught Almunia as he was off his line. I must say that his goal was simply brilliant. Below is a photo of him celebrating after scoring the opening goal of the match.

On the 37th minute, Mikael Silvestre, ex Manchester United player scored his first goal for the club to make it 1-all.

Then came the break. And one would never imagine there was 6 more goals to come.

47th minute, captain marvel, William Gallas put Arsenal in front with another headed goal. 2-1 to Arsenal.

Then Arsenal doubled their lead with a goal from Emmanuel Adebayor on the 69th minute. A nice chip from Samir Nasri to the left off the keeper set the goal and all Adebayor had to do was to touch the ball to ensure it was 3-1. Immediately after that, Arsenal dozed off as Darren Bent came off the bench to make it 3-2. I would say that this goal was partly Manuel Almunia's fault for not clearing an iniatial shot from Tom Huddlestone. Anyway, Arsenal wouldn't be rueing just yet as Robin van Persie stepped up and made it 4-2 a minute later which a superb goal, using his non-preferable right foot.

Adebayor, RVP and Walcott celebrating Arsenal's fourth goal

So it was 4-2 and Arsenal was controlling the match til..

Clichy hesitated to pass the ball to the many options available. He slipped and gave the possession away. That made way for Jermaine Jenas to make it 4-3.

And that goal brought the Tottenham players back to life and gave them hope.

The fourth official shows up the electronic board. 4 added minutes.

90+4 minute..

Luka Modric drives a long range ball in. It beats Almunia but hits the post. Relieved? Hell no!! Aaron Lennon came running by and slotted in the ball to make it 4-all!!

So from 4-2 to 4-4. Still think soccer is boring? I don't. Definately don't. As an Arsenal fan though, I would like the score to just stay at 4-2 and it was kinda heart breaking to draw again. Beginning to see the title hopes fading away as Chelsea, Manchester Utd and Liverpool all won. -Sigh-

It has only been 10 matches so far this season. But it seems like I have had more. So now Arsenal sits third on the Barclay's Premier League and where they will finish still eludes me. They are already 3 points behind second place Chelsea and a further 3 more to leaders, Liverpool. Man Utd ain't far away either. With a game in hand, they are only 2 points adrift Arsenal.

To conclude, this is gonna be one long season with a lot of dramas.

My Life in UTM So Far (Part One)

As promised, I will write about my life here in UTM. So I do not owe you anymore, Lee Peng! Lol. Well, the first week was basically just orientation. Not only was it boring, it was very tiring as we are made to stay up late and wake up really early the next morning. We also did a lot of walking as we had to walk to the main hall almost everyday. But it was there that I first met my favourite lecturer, Professor Dr Tajudin. He was the speaker of one of the talks during the orientation week. He is the only lecturer who teaches me that gave a talk actually. But to me, his session was 1 of the best as it managed to keep me awake! Lol. I was practically falling asleep in every other talks. He even made us tickle of friends. Lol.

Besides that, during orientation week, I also came to know the people I am friends with today. The first I came to know was my roommate. Then from not taking PTPTN, I came to know 2 'bananas' in Yen Pin and Siew Fen. I am glad to know these two people. I am allowed to really speak English with these two! The rest are Chinese educated but they still speak English. But I am even more glad to know Yen Pin. I feel that I am able to connect to her well and am able to tell her things. Lol. Thanks, Crabp!

Also, on the last day of orientation, we were treated with some performances by some of the talented students. 1 of them was Ma Lee, my coursemate and a good friend. She treated us with a piano instrumented Forever In Love. Just awesome.

Anyway, to make things short, today, I normally hang out with 9 people I find really unique in their own ways and pretty cool. Here are some photos from the orientation week.

Bottom left to right: Siew Fen, Siau Hui and Ma Lee the pianist

Well, that is orientation week. After that week, classes started. Then around 3 to 4 weeks in, there was a sports carnival between residential colleges and I tried out for my college's ladies' futsal team and made into the team. However, we did not make it past the group stage as we only won 1 match and drawing and losing the other 2 matches while scoring only 3 goals. All goals scored by me by the way. Lol. I also got myself injured in the second match as the opponents were really rough. Kicked my leg instead of the ball. -Sigh-

Well, that is basically I have for now. I will be writing out part two soon but I am not sure when though. 'Cause I am busy with studying for my finals and all. Just awake right now 'cause I am watching Arsenal take on Tottenham. 1-1 the score now. Mikael Silvestre scoring his first Arsenal goal! Woohoo. Til then.

Bragging Time. Lol

So I completed my assignment right? I then decided to send a copy of it to my lecturer to review before I actually submit it and this is his reply!!

Hi Grace,

I've read through your paper and it was excellent. I could hear your little voices and could understand how you think and feel about yourself and others. I think you have done a great job in putting up a very good paper. I do agree with you that you're beginning to be more open and relax about yourself. Yes, you're indeed transforming your goodself into a better and interesting person. I could see that hapenning in yourself throughout the semester. Well, keep up the good work and I sincerely believe you would be more happy and contented with your life if you are willing to share and explore. There are so many interesting people out there who're waiting for you . . .

As I said to you before, you're one of my best students in the class. I wish you all the best and do let me know if you need any assistance or would like to share your interesting stories with me later on k. I would be very happy to lend you my 'beautiful & caring ears' . . . ha ha.

Till then, catch up with you again soon. Take care and good nite . .

Prof.T

How awesome is that? Lol

Yippee!!

Yay! I have finished my assignment! That is a record for me. Just 1 day needed. Now I can resume my studies and look forward to the North London derby later, Arsenal vs Tottenham. Come on, Arsenal! So relieved and happy.

HEADACHE!!

Why do we get a take home test when next week is our finals? And although it is just 2 essays, when I started to write, my brain disappoints me.

Question 1: How do you define personality and how do you describe your own personality? You are a candidate for a desirable job. Your personality is going to be assessed by a group of psychologists. What method (or methods) would you prefer them to use? Why?

Question 2: Think of a person you know who is smart, but low in emotional intelligence. Think of another person who is smart cognitively and emotionally. How does the second person differ form the first? Which person do you think would make a better parent, friend, supervisor, roommate or a lecturer?

And the total marks of this test is 20% out of the 60% for our coursework. This is a killer!!

Of Bugger and Burger

Today, Yen Pin, Siew Fen, 'ah ma', May Peng and I went to get ourselves frozen in the library again. The coldness sucked at some point. On our way back we had dinner and 'ta pao'-ed supper as well. Siew Fen then called burger 'bugger'. Soon afterwards, the cleaner guy did this to her..

That's some other people's food spilled on her shoulder. -Sigh- She was cursing the guy like mad. But that guy was pretty funny. He immediately ran for tissues upon doing that to Siew Fen and actually I got some of the spill also. Thankfully it wasn't that bad. Never call burger 'bugger', Siew Fen. Remember antecedents and consequences and never 'ta pao' supper! Go straight back home after dinner and do not be greedy!!

And speaking of greediness, last Friday was Ming Wai's birthday and we had dinner outside. Steamboat. And we had to deploy 5 tables! Take a look at the greedy people below eating..

It was good actually. Besides eating, Yen Pin and I bullied and told some of them sick and disgusting stuffs while they were eating. Almost made them puke. Lol. Well, just 1 of them actually, Ma Lee, the one in black and white (bottom left). And after most of us was done, some still have plates after plates of food to cook and eat. So they had to work hard to find every little empty spaces left in their stomaches to chew them down. Lol. Told you, never be greedy. Lol

Formula One Update

Well, recently, Formula One supremo, Bernie Eccelstone proposed an idea to standardise all engines in Formula One. Today, Ferrari has stepped up and said that they might pulled out from the sport if that rule stays. This is because they are it in for the competition and it would be meaningless if all engines are standardised.

In other news, Michael Schumacher said that his record of 7 Formula One world championship is there to be beaten and that Lewis Hamilton leads the way. He admits that Lewis possesses great talent and he is not surprise if he betters his record someday.

That is all. To me, standardised engines would be good. This is because it would allow the weaker and poorer teams to compete with the rich ones like Ferrari, McLaren, etc and that it would save cost. Besides, the winners of races then would be based purely on talent and that would be great to watch. But it would be sad to me if the rule stays and Ferrari leaves 'cause then it would leave me without any reason to continue watching the sport. -Sigh-

One Heck of A Cold Day

Today was relatively boring. Besides being happy over the end of the superb unbeaten home run of Chelsea's and Arsenal's win, there was nothing much to say about today. First, me and my friends had to go to the same silly food court, Arked Meranti, again for lunch. Since this is the study week, many bl**dy stalls don't even wanna operate. -Sigh- It sucks whenever you stay back in the university during breaks. Unless you are willing to spend RM12 daily to go in and out of UTM to get proper lunch outside. So it was yet again nasi tomato for lunch. Well, the option was chicken rice or that and that to me, wasn't option since I have been having chicken rice many times this week. After lunch, we headed to the library to study. We figured that we would do better there than in our rooms as we tend to sleep! Lol. And sniff pillows! Well, that just concerns the "chao-chao" gang actually. Lol. And after a while, we find that the library was freezing cold and I sneezed like mad! 1 of us even brought a huge scarf to protect herself from the coldness. But we managed some good study hours there. About 5 hours or so. I also picked up a Chicken Soup book there. On tough stuffs. Yen Pin said it would be suitable for me considering what I am going through. Lol. On the way back, we stopped for dinner and found out what exactly nasi goreng USA is. Kinda interesting meal but my poor friend had problem finishing it. After that, we headed back to our respectives room where we lie down and face the four walls surrounding us while sniffing our pillows and that would be the end of this post!! Goodnight! Zzzz..

Don't Cheat In Our Hometown

I always like country songs but being in Malaysia, you don't always hear them on the radio, do you? Except for reason times since Taylor Swift made it big. However, as I was surfing the net today, I stumbled across High School Musical's Lucas Grabeel's playlist on MySpace and heard this song. And I feel in love with it the minute I heard the tune of it. Just lovely. It is Don't Cheat In Our Hometown by Keith Whitley and Ricky Shaggs. And I even managed to get this from YouTube. By the looks of it, I think these 2 singers have gone to the other world already. Lol. Great song though.

Arsenal Stays Fourth in The Premiership

As mentioned in my 2 previous entries, Arsenal would be playing fellow Londoners, West Ham United at Upton Park. Also mentioned was that I lost connection to Justin.tv and again could not watch it! But anyway, the important thing is that Arsenal won. Told you they would. Although it took an own goal to get it started and a late goal from Emmanuel Adebayor to cement the win. Yes, Arsenal are 0-2 winners last night!! Woohoo!!

In the first half, Arsenal had their fair of chances but did not capitalise on them. Half time came and both teams were still even. Then on the 68th minute, Arsene Wenger sensed the need of using his substitutes, bringing on Adebayor and Abou Diaby for Theo Walcott and Samir Nasri. And what an immediate impact Adebayor brought to the visiting side as he met a corner with a header. Unfortunately, it was just a a little wide of the upright. but it wouldn't matter as 7 minutes later, ARSENAL TAKE THE LEAD! An own goal by Julien Faubert but Adebayor can take a great deal of credit after he twists and turns before firing a shot across the face of goal. Faubert then slides in but his attempted clearance only finds the back of the net! 0-1 to the Arsenal!! After that, West Ham changed their tactics and brought on fresh pairs of legs. However, it was to no avail as on the 90th minute, Adebayor scored 1 of his own. Nicklas Bendtner sets him away with a long ball through that catches West Ham unawares and he races onto it, rounds the advancing Green and slots into an empty net! 0-2 to the Arsenal!! And that is how the match ended. Arsenal to travel back with 3 full points.

If only I got to watch the match. I have missed so many Arsenal's goals since I came to UTM and it sucks!! Anyway, here are some photos from the match.

Well, that is it, I guess. Anyway, Arsenal and the rest of the Premiership clubs will be playing again this Tuesday/Wednesday nights. Arsenal will be hosting Tottenham. What a time to have a North London derby if you asked me. Spurs just bagged their first win under new manager, Harry Rednapp last night. But Arsenal should be able to do it. Lol. Til then! I got to get back to studying! Finals are coming and I even have an assignment tomorrow. Life sucks!

Stamford Bridge Showdown: Chelsea vs Liverpool

The current top 2 sides of the Barclay's Premier League met today and it was definately gonna be a good game. Thankfully, I got to watch part of it on Justin.tv live streamings. Unfortunately, it jammed halfway through it and until now I am unable to watch it. -Sigh- Yet again I am mising Arsenal's match. Thought I could finally watch my very first Arsenal's match here in UTM. Anyway, as it turned out, Xabi Alonso's deflected goal was the only goal of the night and Liverpool was therefore 0-1 winners. The win ends Chelsea's 86 unbeaten games at home. That is 4 years and 8 months. So hats off to Liverpool who by the way, will top the table after tonight's results. Guess my brother must be jumping like mad at home now. Congrats, Matt. Heard that papa brought you out for some Liverpool fans party thingy in town. Anyway, with this win, I think Liverpool are finally looking like a strong contender to win the Premiership after an 18 year dry spell. I hope not though. Arsenal all the way. Lol. Anyway, here are some photos from the match.

The Pilot..

Hmm.. The debut for the blog. Lol. I have been blogging for about a year actually. On another site (don't ask me where is it) and this morning, I just felt bored with it already and just decided to just start afresh on a new one. Like I am too free. -Sigh- Sp thought I tried this one on here. Unfortunately, the blogging mood haven't settle in yet. So this should be it. Oh yeah. I'd expect to blog a post on Arsenal later. The subject of availability depends on whether Arsenal wins later or not though. Lol. Hmm.. Away to West Ham. Although they have lost to them before on home soil, I'd expect Arsenal to come out on top from this match. West Ham haven't really stamp their mark this year but neither did Arsenal really but after demolishing Turkish side Fenerbache away the other day, I'd say Arsenal are about to run amok today. Lol. I hope they would but I won't be able to watch! Stupid university doesn't even have television. Argh!! Oh yeah. To those who haven't know already, I am currently studying University Teknologi Malaysia now. Taking up Psychology course here. Will blog on it soon. Til then!
